San Francisco
When someone begins a trip to the West Coast of America, he only wants to live the Californian Dream and be a part, at least for a while, of this dream.
Our gastronomical and not only journey began from San Francisco, a city that we literally admire for its beauty, its gastronomy and calmness that its residents carry on. The city provides to its visitor the love from the first sight, as we all know it. Be aware though that comfortable and anatomic shoes are mandatory, even ones for hiking, due to all high hill roads exist within the city, especially at the biggest part of city center. Picturesque alleys, streets with the cable trams, up and down hill roads, bridges (Golden Gate is a truly remarkable spot), Victorian houses, parks and in general a totally different life and daily rhythms and speed defining its “nickname” Silicon Valley, as the capital of entrepreneurship and innovations.
Regarding gastronomy, the city ranges in very high standards. There located three restaurants with three 3*** Michelin stars, seven with two 2**, twenty one with one 1*, three restaurants gained the Michelin Green Star of sustainability and environment and twenty two existing at Bib Gourmand list of Michelin. The city is next to Napa Valley, where the best wines of US producing. Visits and tours at wineries are really worth a visit, even if these ones belong to celebrities such as Francis Ford Coppola or not.

Sausalito is a suburb, beyond Golden Gate Bridge, where marina with yachts, shops and restaurants at the high end street and impressive villas co-exist, offering a marvelous outcome. Rent a car is a must to visit the specific area.
Most probably the most “strong” experience at the city is the Alcatraz jail. You can visit the island that jail exists as a museum at a very reasonable price and be able to be a part of the most famous jail facilities worldwide, learn about myths, legends and true facts of it and walk around to cells and area that Al Capone and Ellsworth “Bumpy” Johnson were inmates, among plenty of more “celebrity” criminals.
Ferry Building Marketplace is an open market next to the sea, next to the highway that placed at the shore of the Bay. The bio and organic fruit and vegetable market once a week and the internal market of the facilities where shops sell edible and not only goodies, is an extremely interesting landmark.
One of the most dazzling experiences to live in States in general is a NBA game live. Golden State Warriors Arena, named as Chase Center is a real jewel, high end and super modern stadium that when someone visits will actually understand what we are talking about.
For the end we left to mention, most probably, the most nice spot in town. Fisherman’s Wharf & Pier 39 is a location where children and older can enjoy their walk, their food, their shopping, their dessert, their ice cream, in one of the restaurants or take away. Kids can play at facilities there, make trampoline, ride carousel and many more activities. Sea lions that lying on the decks next to this area are mascots of the whole city and provide a great picture.
As an extra tip for San Francisco we will propose a restaurant with unique food. Donato & Co at Berkeley is the one, where Executive Chef Gianluca Guglielmi and his associates bring Italy at your dishes. Flavors that bring back memories, great taste, a “cantata” to Italy through Gianluca’s dishes.
